Streetcar Wrap
To kick off their third season, the Current collaborated with the KC Streetcar for a branded vinyl wrap. This design was to promote the team as well as the new CPKC stadium. In addition to the streetcar wrap, I created designs for the stops along it’s service route.
Process Sketches
During the concept phase, I drew from the club’s strong association with water and the energy of rivers. Player imagery was also a key element of the design. Initial sketches explored the idea of combining action photos with graphic elements.
Final print designs
The final design creates a sense of flowing water with bold, waving lines. The bridge on the left car (Bond bridge) represents the location of the new stadium and is a landmark of the city. Action shots of players were replaced with portraits, for scalability and visibility of sponsor logos.
Throughout the process, I worked with the Streetcar team to meet technical requirements such as window visibility and avoiding LED screens.
A unique feature of the streetcar could be found on the inside. Each seat was wrapped with a flattened design of the home and away uniforms, with player names and numbers.
